Sweet Cherry Lemonade


If you are buying prepared lemonade: to serve, add 1 tbsp of cherry syrup to each glass of lemonade.


Simple Syrup

1 cup cherry juice from Ontario Pitted Black Sweet Cherries 250 ml
3/4 cup white sugar 175 ml


1 cup lemon juice (from about 4-6 lemons) 250 ml
4-6 cups still or sparkling water. Dilute to suite your taste 1-1.5 L



Simple Syrup:

  1. In a saucepan, stir together cherry juice and sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium heat and simmer for apprximately 3-5 minutes. Stir frequently, until sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside.
  3. This makes approximately 1.5 cups of simple syrup which may be kept covered in the fridge for 1 week.


  1. Blend cherry syrup, lemon juice and add water to suite your taste.
  2. Depending how sour your lemons are, you might prefer to add a little extra cherry syrup to sweeten further. 
  3. Serve over ice.
